Get Cheffed was founded by Carl Newman — a chef who's spent more than three decades feeding people for a living. Of Māori descent from Ngāpuhi and Te Rarawa, Carl brings a deep connection to the land and a respect for kai that runs through everything he cooks.
Carl picked up his first knife professionally at 18, and has spent the years since mastering his craft across New Zealand's film and television industry, working with most of the country's leading production caterers.
In 2021, after years on set and a clear vision of what catering could look like, Carl went out on his own. Not just to cook great food with a different approach — but to build something better from the ground up. Get Cheffed is the result: a mobile catering operation built around sustainably sourced ingredients, honest cooking across world cuisines, and a team culture where every person on the crew is treated with respect.
